What is a Calcutta & how does it work?
1. A draw will be held at Stroud & District Country Club on Saturday Oct 29th at 8pm on the outcome of the Melbourne Cup 2022.
2. All tickets purchased will participate in a draw for a runner in the race.
3. Tickets drawn will be matched with a runner in the race at random.
4. Once all runners have been drawn, an auction will take place where people have the opportunity to bid for the runners that have already been drawn.
5. Successful purchasers must pay for their winning bid on the runners immediately the auction is completed.
6. 50% of the auction price will go to the person who drew the runner in the ticket draw and 50% will be added to the prize pool.
7. In the event the original horse owner wins the bidding they pay only 50% of the winning bid price and that goes to the prize pool.
8. In the unlikely event that a horse garnishes no bids, the person who won the horse in the initial draw will take that runner into the Cup.
9. No refunds will be given on scratching after the auction.
10. Winners will be decided by official placings as declared by the TAB Ltd and will be shared in the event of a dead heat.
11. The prize pool is the amount of money invested (sale of tickets + 50% of the auction amount of each runner), less expenses and less 25% to Stroud Lions.
12. Winners will be notified on Wednesday after the Melbourne Cup on how to collect their prize.
13. Results will then be published on the Stroud Local and Stroud Lions Facebook pages.
